Backyard Soccer Championships!

But, just because the term is over, don’t let them stop playing soccer! In fact, the holidays provide the perfect opportunity for a Backyard Championship match – rope in the aunties, uncles, grandparents and cousins. Running around the backyard is a brilliant way to get in some soccer practice while burning off the Christmas lunch.

We would love to see you all enjoying playing a game together so be sure to upload a picture or two to our facebook page.

Soccer is a fantastic way to bring the family together and have a load of fun, and we love seeing all our Grasshoppers showing off their skills. A great idea is to get the Grasshopper to run the game – let them explain the rules and have a go at coaching the team – you may be surprised at what they come out with!

Ask them to decide which warm up drills to do, and get them to demonstrate if necessary. It’s a great way to give them some responsibility in a fun and non-threatening way, and showcases everything they have learned over the year.

To make it even more fun, decide team colours by assigning tasteful tinsel sashes, or use paper hats from Christmas crackers – we’ve found the crazier the outfit the more enjoyment is experienced.

More than anything, we hope you have fun! Upload some pics and see how your team goes against the rest of the Grasshopper Soccer community.
